Sound Of Metal: Overview

Rubin is a drummer, and the metal duo with the singer, his girlfriend, Lou, is half of Backgammon. They live in an RV, driving around the country to perform the jig. Ruben suddenly begins to lose his hearing.

He goes to a pharmacy to find out what’s going on. The pharmacist referred it to a doctor who could see Rubin immediately. The doctor examines the hearing and determines that Rubin can hear 20-30% of the words successfully, and his hearing will continue to get worse rapidly.

He may receive a cochlear implant to improve his hearing. However, implants are costly and are not covered by insurance. The doctor advised that Rubin first eliminate the loud noises, and further examination would be done after some time. Nevertheless, Rubin continues to perform.

Lou knows what’s going on and wants to stop acting for Reuben’s safety and security, but Reuben wants to continue. He is also worried about his health, as he is addicted to drugs. He calls his anonymous drug sponsor, Hector.

Hector finds a place to recover deaf addicts who accept Rubin. It’s a rural community run by a male named Joe, a healthy alcoholic who lost his hearing during the Vietnam War. Rubin went with Lou because they wouldn’t let him stay with them, and they are only worried about his transfer.

He also starts to learn American Sign Language. Joe works with Rubin to relax quietly, without writing and sitting quietly. Who tells Reuben that he will do so at once. Ruben joins Diane’s class and begins to connect with the children and the rest of the community.

He gives basic drumming lessons to the children and Diane. Up to this point, Reuben’s establishment has been sponsored by a church, which gives him away to live permanently and tells him to think about it. Reuben used to check Lou on the computer and watch it periodically.

He discovers that he keeps experimenting with his music in Paris. He gets ready to sell his drums, soundboards, and other musical instruments to his friend Jane. Rubin then sells his RV. He said the money is used to pay for minor implant surgery.

Ruben asks Joe if he can lend him money to buy back his RV while he waits for the implant to be activated, which he denies because the community is based on the belief that deafness is not disabled.

Once the cochlear implants are activated, they let Robin hear, but not in the traditional sense, and they have to get used to it. However, he is disappointed to learn that implants cause disturbing feedback, which hampers his efforts to regain his old lifestyle.

He flew to Belgium to meet his wealthy father, Richard, to meet Ruben Lowe, where he has settled into a new lifestyle. Richard greeted him and allowed him to stay. Lou and his father perform a duet at a party, although Rubin’s implants prevent him from enjoying it.

Rubin and Lou discuss the possibility of playing music and touring again. Rubin notes that Lou is upset and tells him everything is fine, that he saved his life. Lu said to him that he had devoted himself, and they both realized that the time they had spent together had made them very different people.

The next morning, he woke up, took his things, and went to sleep. Disturbed by the noise of the impressions again, he sat outside and quietly removed the small implant processors.

Critics And Rewies Of The Movie: Sound Of Metal

Perri Nemiroff (Perri Nemiroff (YouTube)) December 17, 2020

Riz Ahmed presents a very complex and dynamic screen change of the year.

Roxana Hadadi (Pajiba) December 7, 2020

What are we indebted to, and how do we fail ourselves? The challenges of these calculations are the essence of Sound of Metal, a film whose technical success mirrors the quality of its emotional truths.

Sara Michelle Fetters (MovieFreak.com) December 6, 2020

Dars Murder’s brilliant soundtrack to the metal has been demonstrated, which left me in a state of anxiety long after the drama ended.

Kristy Puchko (Crooked Marquee) December 5, 2020

A movie that is surprisingly tough to watch, but it’s also important to watch. How often does the film make your whole body feel invested, suffocated, and finally – excellent – floating?

Tim Brayton (Alternate Ending) January 24, 2021

The work of Riz Ahmed on the central role is an excellent piece of screen acting, quickly one of the year’s best performances.

Matt Hudson (What I Watched Tonight) January 23, 2021

In the sometimes destructive drama, Raz Ahmed is invaluable in providing an insight into the struggle facing the deaf community.

Armond White (National Review) January 22, 2021

The metal of sound indicates the avoidance of the millennium by spiritual self-examination. Just a showy cinematic tattoo, the desecration of the body, the sound of metal is the work of spiritual space.

Martin Thomas (Double Toasted) January 20, 2021

The production is well done, and the performances are coming out. It’s a quiet, intimate film, but I’ve been waiting for it to attract me. Good thing, but It is short.

Matthew Lucas (From the Front Row) January 19, 2021

While these performances are certainly strong (especially by Paul Ross as Robin’s mentor), the film’s twisted politics ended its emotional impact by refusing to obscure its main character’s plight.

Chase Hutchinson (The Stranger (Seattle, WA)) January 12, 2021

Sound of Metal is a transcendental film that stands out from the depths. It feels revolutionary, deep in its quiet moments.

Robert Roten (Laramie Movie Scope) January 10, 2021

The only feeling of emotional continuity in the film that seems credible to me is Rubin’s emotional journey. Traveling alone is enough for me to pass this film.

Victor Pineyro (Seventh Art Studio) January 8, 2021

Riz Ahmad found his perfection between despair and hope. The film stops being the story of a musician who loses his hearing and becomes a rediscovered man’s story.

Lauren Veneziani (DC Film Girl) January 4, 2021

Riz Ahmed leads the film on harm and addiction. The sound mixing and editing in the movie were so incredible that it made me feel anxious.

Carey-Ann Pawsey  (Orca Sound) December 17, 2020

The people behind the movie want you to watch it with headlines. Immerse the deaf in a world of deaf people. Wants sounds, etc., to hit you and get the point.

Audience Reviews Of The Movie: Sound Of Metal

Brendan O

Sound of Metal is probably the number one film of 2020. I know epidemics have reduced Hollywood’s usual fog for the awards season. Still, Sound of Metal would have competed no matter what.

Raw performances anchor the film. It is not unlike anything that comes in front of you; watching the original movie is refreshing. I doubted the film would raise the heights of praise around, but it does.

The supporting cast makes sure it feels real, and at the moment, the lead performances push it into something incredible. Riz Ahmed was lost in a film like poison, and it is a shame that Hollywood removes these actors from the role.

Olivia Cook has continued her successful transition from the Bits Hotel and has found herself surrounded by strong moviegoers and actors. This is a must-see in 2020.

Nate Z

I don’t think I’ve emphasized deafness and deafness more than the sound of metal, a heavy metal drummer’s moving and observational drama that makes sense of hearing fade.

Riz Ahmed (Night Crawler) plays Rubin, a four-year-old ex-girlfriend worried about losing his girlfriend/bandmate (Olivia Cook) due to his recent diagnosis. He is undergoing treatment, which means he has to take care of the deaf community and relocate others to that community.

Marisol M

Hell’s provocative ‘sound of metal’ has high scores for its moderate to high effect in interpreting a metal drummer Rubin’s grip with deafness. The sound design is fantastic; It explores alienation, disorder, and conditions in ways I could have imagined, and the effects are amazing, terrifying, and, once again, heartbreaking.

Riz Ahmad nails the sand nets of this treatment that keep biting someone with bubbles and save the claws. The tumultuous length at which he will fight his deafness echoes his heroin-addicted past. I sadly saw Ruben in someone I knew.

How several times does a movie hit so close to home that it seems like your life will unfold before your eyes? Not more. My story, I ended my right ear hearing in the early ’30s. Some Strange Things They Can’t Cure For Minor Diseases.

Twenty years later and three months ago, my right ear began to rupture, and I was told I had a two-way manor. Not Good. I wasn’t a drummer (although I practiced being one). I went to Metal / Rock Shows before Coved, and now I wear air plugs when I go.

I can’t personally talk about her choice in the music business, but I can speak to her like I’m suddenly deaf. Just like in a movie, I wake up and mutter loudly with everything. Even my voice. I was told that hearing aids could be helpful.

I was lucky to have a family beneficiary who offered to pay the best price for not having insurance coverage. And they helped – a little bit, but for the price, they barely squatted. The sounds were loud, like an AM radio with a bad speaker in your ear.

I need to put subtitles on all the movies I watch these days. But being traumatized in your life reminds you of the importance of communication.
